1

Is it mandatory to have a privacy policy on the company's website?

Whether a website should have a privacy policy or not depends on whether the website processes personal data. Mostly, however, there should be a privacy policy because data processing is considered, for example, to be able to fill out a customer form, to order a service/product, or if Google Analytics or any other statistical tool that creates cookies on the user's computer is used.

2

Is it allowed to send commercial announcements to the customer if the customer has not given specified consent?

No, if the customer has not given his consent to receive commercial announcements, the service provider is prohibited from sending commercial announcements to the customer.

3

What to do if you suspect illegal disclosure of your personal data?

First of all, you should contact the data controller, who is specified in the privacy policy of the service provider. On the other hand, if it is not possible to contact the data controller or he does not provide an answer, we recommend that you contact the Data State Inspectorate by writing your question to the e-mail address: pasts@dvi.gov.lv.
