Is it possible to divorce a marriage with a foreigner in Latvia?

A marriage concluded with a foreigner can be divorces in Latvia if at least one of the spouses has a permanent residence in Latvia.

In what cases can a marriage be divorced by a notary?

A marriage can be divorced by a notary, if both spouses agree to divorce, there are no disputes between them regarding the division of property, and if there are joint minor children, the spouses have agreed on the place of residence of the children and the order of contact with them. If there is a dispute between the spouses on at least one of the above-mentioned issues, the marriage can be divorced only in court.

How much is the minimum maintenance for the child in 2024?

The minimum maintenance for the child up to 7 years of age is 175 EUR per month, while for a child from 7 to 18 years of age - 210 EUR per month. In addition, upon reaching the age of 18 and up to the age of 21, a child has the right to receive maintenance in the amount of 129 EUR per month, if he continues to study basic education, secondary education, vocational education, or special education.
