Do you have to pay taxes when you receive real estate as a gift?

If the real estate was received as a gift from a spouse, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers or sisters of parents, children of brothers and sisters, then personal income tax on the gift is not payable. On the other hand, if the real estate was received as a gift from another person not mentioned above, the recipient of the gift must pay personal income tax on the value of the gift.
